Wedding Movies ~ With holidays in full swing, we have the luxury of a little free time. To sit, relax on the couch and watch a few of our favourite movies – popcorn and hot chocolate in hand.

If you are in the midst of wedding planning, here are a few of my favourite wedding movies to keep you in the mood these holidays!

My Best Friend’s Wedding

Perhaps the most classic wedding movie – Julia Roberts shines when she falls in love with her best friend… before he is about to marry someone else. Classic 90’s romance.

Made of Honour

Slightly reversing the roles of My Best Friend’s Wedding, the bride asks her best friend to be her maid of honour, except that he is the gorgeous Patrick Dempsey, and she is hopelessly in love with him. Gorgeous Scottish scenery also adds to the appeal of this one.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Likely to cause tears of laughter, a young Greek woman falls in love with a non-Greek and struggles to get her family to accept him as a potential husband.

License to Wed

Robin Williams plays a pastor who puts an engaged couple through a grueling marriage preparation course to see if they are suitable to get married in his church. The lovely Mandy Moore ensures this falls firmly into romantic-comedy territory.

27 Dresses

Always a bridesmaid and never a bride, Katherine Heigl stars as the woman who has been a bridesmaid 27 times, while her own lovelife is pretty hopeless. One for the true wedding-lovers, a highlight of this movie is the Elton John karaoke scene.

Mamma Mia

Warning : should not be watched with men. This classic ABBA musical has been turned into a movie of an almost-bride trying to find her father. Expect stunning scenery of the Greek Islands and a song at every turn. Invite your bridal party and have a girls’ night in.
