Choosing the Perfect Wedding Dress for Your Unique Shape

Wedding days are magical; the days when dreams come true and you feel your most beautiful. There are as many unique wedding dresses as there are one-of-a-kind brides. You have your own shape, but also your own preferences, styles and vision. This is merely a rough guideline for the styles that best suit each gorgeous body shape:

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Dress for Your Unique Shape

Pear
Brides with a smaller waist and fuller hips look ravishing in dresses that flare gradually from the natural waist to the floor. This style shows off the bride’s waist and is timelessly elegant; nothing short of fairytale-perfect.

Apple
Brides with an apple shape generally carry their weight around their stomachs and “love handles”. So, dresses that are pulled in at the smallest part of the waist tend to work well, as do textured bodies and a deep V-neck.

Petite
Petite brides look best in A-line or trumpet dresses with small detailing, and a waistline that is just a little above your natural waist to elongate you.

Big Busted
Make the most of your full bust by wearing a scooped neck, or a neckline that dips at the cleavage (as opposed to a straight one). Avoid showing too much cleavage as this will only detract from the prettiness of the dress, and does not translate well in photographs.

Small Busted
A bodice with added volume (by ruching, for example) adds a bit of bulk, if you’re looking for a fuller look on your chest. For even more volume, ask your dressmaker to add padding to the bust section of your bodice.

Straight and Narrow
While some brides are trying to hide their curves, others are hankering after them. If you are narrow and would like to add the illusion of extra curves, a bias-cut sheath dress or a ball gown that flows outward from your waist are ideal.

Tall
Tall brides look fabulous in dropped waistlines and elegant gowns that sweep the floor, not hovering above the foot.
