How to Hire a Wedding Planner

For busy brides who tend to get a little bit on the overwhelmed side, hiring a wedding planner could be the difference between getting things done right and losing your grasp on sanity. Weddings can be chaos to arrange, and chaos is stressful. If you can afford a Wedding Planner to take off a little bit of the pressure then do so, but do so carefully.

4 Tips on how to hire a wedding planner

ASK YOUR FRIENDS
Chat to a couple of friends who have recently been married and ask them about their wedding planners. You will quickly be able to put together a list of names.

INTERVIEW CANDIDATES
Don’t make the mistake of just picking a planner out of a hat and going with it. It is very important to make sure that your personalities gel together and you can only do this by sitting down and having a frank conversation with a couple of candidates before choosing the best one to suit your needs.

PERUSE THE PORTFOLIO
Make sure you get to see some other weddings that they have put together and that the planner you have chosen is a true professional. Sometimes it happens that brides have so much fun planning their own weddings that they suddenly decide to become wedding planners. This is fine, of course, but you need to be sure that the person you are dealing with is not a fly-by-night and is serious about your wedding.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE HEARD
It is very important during interviews to make sure that your ideas are being heard. Yes, a wedding planner is there to offer tips and advice BUT you must make sure that she is enhancing YOUR ideas and not bullying you with her own.

At the end of the day it is important to trust your instincts on this one. Always remember that a wedding planner with a good reputation is great, but finding someone who understands you is better.
