What I loved about shooting this wedding is that it epitomized the ‘Rainbow Nation’ in more ways than one. Starting with the wedding ceremony at Winchester Mansions to the photoshoots along Sea Points promenade, to their ‘Urban Energy’ shoot in Cape Town, to the Radisson Blu’s panaromic views for the cocktail party, all the way back to their colonial courtyard at the Winchester Mansion for the evening reception. This venue is the perfect ‘indoor-outdoor’ venue with its piazza styled courtyard centered around the fountain. It’s the perfect hide-away gem from the scorching heat and screaming wind from outside on Sea Point promenade—once you are indoors, you are almost engulfed by an oasis of greens, and the sound of the water-fountain enough to sooth anyone into the sexy zone.

This wedding was an endless feast of smiles, the festive power of surprises by Denzel Washington look-a-like husband Wendell (especially when he surprised Carla in front of all her guests by pulling out a Mike and singing to her in front of all the guests) to an endless supply of colours on offer in our city–from perfect pinks, purples, blues and African earthy hues–this wedding captured it all. Shantel and her jazz band were one of the funkiest I have ever heard—and the vanilla cupcakes with edible roses from Leonard’s Bakery were ‘to die for’. What stands out for me more than anything was the beautiful and genuine innocence of this couple—it was a splendid day of love, romance, vibrant chemistry, and a endless supply happiness and fairytale beauty.
