Gay and Lesbian Wedding Show

Prepare for South Africa’s first comprehensive gay and lesbian wedding show, taking place at the Mother City’s exquisite 4-star Grand Daddy Hotel, which has been selected not only because of its plush, luxurious interior, but also of its ease of access for visitors and exhibitors alike.

With the passing of legislation allowing same-sex couples the right to marriage equality in 2006, this market segment has been overlooked with many marriage ceremonies hidden in the closet. The show will therefore open this closet and aim to provide a credible and exciting platform for brands to showcase their goods and services, thereby increasing its exposure and interaction with this lucrative – and often under-catered for – segment of South Africa’s consumer market, which, although smaller, still wields considerable buying power.

More than 30 exhibitors from various industries, ranging from travel agencies, bridal wear designers, financial services providers, florists, caterers, photographers and make-up artists will be exhibiting at the show. A fashion show will also showcase the latest wedding designs by new and established designers. In addition, various speakers will be presenting informative talks ranging from gay adoption, the legalities of gay marriage and perfect honeymoon destinations.

Special offers and  prizes will also be given away to lucky couples.

  • 2 Prizes of a professional wedding planner for your special day courtesy of Pink Confetti worth R12000 and Stylish Affairs worth R10000.
  • 2 Honey moon packages courtesy of Bakenhof Guesthouse, Wellington worth R4000
  • 2 Photographic packages courtesy of Anneska Burger Photography worth R10000
  • 1 full Videographic package courtesy of Dutch Tulip Video Productions worth R5000
  • 2 hair styling packages to a Gay and Lesbian couple for their wedding day courtesy of Exo Hair worth R2000
  • Jewellery from Platinum Jewellers worth over R5000.

The objective of the show is to position and market Cape Town as the ideal destination for gay and lesbian weddings, honeymoons and married couples who wish to settle in South Africa. It also aims to consolidate gay-owned and gay-friendly commercial entities into one supply chain that will not only boost job creation and local and foreign investment, but also encourage new entrepreneurs and businesses to enter the industry.

The show will be a celebration of marriage equality in South Africa and an event not to be missed!
