As a wrap up, the last song tends to be playful and upbeat – a positive high note to the end the evening. As opposed to the first dance, which tends to be more romantic. But anything goes.
And for those to whom it hadn’t yet occurred that you might need a last song (we didn’t have one), you certainly don’t have to, you could simply announce ‘last song, folks’ when you’ve reached the end of your playlist. But some venues have curfews, the DJ is only staying until 11pm, or you have to consider the neighbours. The last song is one way to call it a night.
