So everything has been arranged and the day commences, the wedding ceremony was incredible and even the photo shoot went well. The evening is beginning and dinner will be served shortly, all on track! It is that time of the evening when the bride and groom get to relax, speeches are over and the lights are dimming so the dancing can begin…
The Wedding DJ plays the first dance song and as you and your new husband take the floor you can feel the guests eagerly awaiting their turn take their opportunity to join you and get their groove. Song after song is just right, the dance floor is full of smiles and even granny and grandpa take the floor for a feature boogie to an old family favorite. The music works a natural rhythm and makes its way into more commercial songs and the mood is perfect! You cannot deny the fact that there will be at least one person who will step up to the DJ and want to request a song – even if the DJ does not have it in his playlist, he smiles politely and makes the guest feel like they have achieved greatness. Usually the dancing part of the evening doesn’t last forever as the wedding venues have their curfew’s, but you made it count and everyone had an amazing and fun time because you took the time to do your homework and find an appropriate DJ for your wedding and your guests!
Now, I don’t know if you have ever been to a wedding where there was supposed to be dancing and the DJ wasn’t getting it right, but it is disappointing and can leave your wedding day feeling like a bit of an anti-climax. Remember, this is not about the DJ showing off his moves it’s about him making your night a special one and playing the music you want to hear. Maybe it is a good idea to either know the DJ well or take an hour to have a cup of coffee with them and make sure they know exactly what it is you are looking for when it comes to music preferences.
My suggestion is; get to know your Wedding DJ and be very clear from the start so that you can just boogie down and have fun with no hassles! And have a look here for a list of great Wedding DJs!
Happy Wedding Planning!
